Carissa's first sewing project.

I have to admit that I haven't been posting all summer because whenever I've had a spare moment, I've been sewing/quilting. Carissa has been interested in learning how to sew, so we chose a very simple pattern for here to make a shirt for her stuffed bunny out of some scrap fabric. She did an excellent job, especially considering she is only six.

Same tactic, one year later!

Edmund and Andrew are still huge fans of Watermelon. They picked up this year where they left off last summer, picking up the water melon juice from the cutting board.

August Birthdays

August is one of our 2-birthday months! Michael's was on the 5th and he turned 35 Oh My! It seems like we just celebrate 30. Andrew and Edmund decided to show their appreciation for their daddy by testing the cake out for him. Yummy! The older kids wrote letters/drew pictures for his birthday. Michael chose a gun safe for himself.

Aaron celebrated his 10th birthday on August 9th. He recieved hunting gear this year. Michael, Aaron, and Cory are excited for the upcoming season. I love this picture of Aaron. He is not our most photogenic child, but this one is good!

Back to School

Two posts ago, school was out, today, my kids are finishing up their first week of school.
Aaron is in fifth grade. Notice he has ditched the glasses in favor of contacts. He is excited for his last year at Wrights Mill Road! He has Mrs. Nall for his homeroom teacher, but he rotates through all the fifth grade teachers for Science, Math, Language Arts, and Social Studies. It sounds like he will have fun and busy year.
Cory is in 3rd grade. His teacher is Miss Keith. He was very happy to find on his first day that his classroom was filled with many of his friends! He'll have to remember not to get distracted by them when it is time to work!
Carissa is in her first year at WMR, with Mrs. Evans in first grade. She is beginning to make new friends already. She is ready to learn. She loves school, she thought the last month of summer (when we were around the house most the time) was boring.
Patrick is 5, and while he could start Kindergarten this year, I decided that a year of preschool would be good for him. I had his signed up for preschool, only to have the program canceled! I will be spending time during the next two weeks finding another alternative for him! In the mean time, I'm working with him on early reading with him.
Andrew and Edmund are really taking off with their speech, and have shown a little bit of interest/understanding about using the potty! Now it's just up to me to take them to use it often enough.
