Trickery
Andrew is very decisive about what he does want and what he does not want. It's part of his inborn personality, add to that his age (about 2 1/2) and I'm sure you can imagine. Tuesday morning I dressed Edmund first, then allowed Andrew to chose from three shirts and three shorts. He wasn't very happy about the shirt selection, but finally decided which one he liked best. Then it was time for shorts. He found every pair NOT to his liking, and wanted me to open his drawers for greater selection, but I had already pulled out the last three clean pairs for him to choose amongst. He was completely unsatisfied and refused to be dressed, signaling to me that he wanted the shorts Edmund was wearing. I let him get away with that for the early morning, but when it was time to take Patrick to preschool, I put a pair on him and off we went. Then I took Edmund and Andrew for a walk (my exercise for the day). When we returned home, I cleaned up for a bit, then discovered Andrew and Edmund had stripped themselves of pants and diapers. (A fun activity for them, usually instigated by Andrew.) I then told them we needed to get dressed again. Andrew ran and got himself a new diaper and the shorts Edmund had been wearing. I dressed him in those shorts, and Edmund was content to wear a different pair of shorts. It is impossible to read his mind, but I'm fairly sure Andrew convinced Edmund to strip his pants so he could steal them.

Vacation 2009 post - Fish Hook Park
One of our Saturdays in Washington was spent boating at Fish Hook Park. My brother had a great ski boat, and everyone had a lot of fun. Even Andrew, who doesn't like new things thought cruising along int he boat was great. Aaron and Cory thought tubing was AWESOME, and Michael enjoyed water skiing for the first time since we lived in California. I don't have any pictures from out on the water, but here are some from the shore

Vacation 2009 post - Grandma Despain's home
On our way from Utah to Washington, we stopped in Idaho at my Grandma Despain's home and had a a quick visit with my Aunt Alice and my cousins Darla, DeAnn, and Daylene. The kids enjoyed seeing the farm where my dad grew up.

I'm finally getting around to posting vacation pictures, so check back over the next couple of days for more. We've been home for 2 months, but at least they are getting posted (unlike last year, but maybe I'll post last year's after I've gotten these taken care of.)
First, I need to mention that I did stop at my brother Andy's home, but didn't take any pictures there; I don't know what I was thinking, but we did enjoy seeing them in Dallas! on our way out to Utah.
So here are our first pictures, Arches National Park near Moab Utah. We visited in the morning before continuing on to Springville, Utah to visit with Grandma and Grandpa Clay.
Andrew is the twin throwing a temper tantrum in front of the family. This was very typical for him during this vacation. I'm afraid he likes routine and he is a BIG PILL when we get of, especially for several days (or in this case, weeks) at a time.
Carissa, Aaron and Cory at the visitor center observatory. It was fun to learn about the geology of Arches NP. I had forgotten all the process that went into the rock formation. It must have been fun to create!

Our elementary school has begun using Artsonia this year - a website where they upload all of their artwork to share on the web! I've added a link to Carissa's art, and will soon add Aaron and Cory's (when the school sends me the info).
